Procedures for the Catholic Church
- If you are Catholic, please bring a copy of your baptismal certificate
to Old St. Patrick’s. Please note that these copies must
be dated no more than 6 months prior to your wedding date.
- If the Baptism took place outside of the continental USA, please
furnish a stamped, addressed envelope to the church of the Baptism
Certificate so that we may complete the required marriage notification.
- If you have been confirmed in the Catholic Church, please bring
a copy of your confirmation certificate as well. Please note that
these copies must be dated no more than 6 months prior to your wedding
date.
- If you are of another Christian denomination, please bring a copy
of your baptismal record.
- These records can be obtained from the church where you were baptized
or confirmed.
- You may be asked to arrange for two people to sign affidavits attesting
to your freedom to marry. Usually parents, other relatives or friends
of long-standing can complete these forms.
- If you are a Catholic marrying a non-baptized person, your priest
will advise you about completing the paperwork required by the Chancery
Office.
You will go over a prenuptial questionnaire with the priest. It will
then serve as the Church’s basic record of your marriage.
- Please bring the certificate from your marriage preparation program
to Old St. Patrick’s. It will be included in the record of your
wedding.
