Becoming Catholic
The next day, John was by the Jordan again with two of his disciples. Seeing Jesus walk by, John said, Look! There is the Lamb of God! The two disciples heard what Jesus said and followed Jesus. When Jesus turned around and noticed them following, he asked them, “What are you looking for?” They replied, Rabbi, which means “Teacher” where are you staying? Come and see, Jesus answered. So they went to see where he was staying, and they spent the rest of the day with him.
—John 1:35-39
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process designed for those who are considering joining the Catholic Church by celebrating the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. The process welcomes adults who have never been baptized and those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition, as well as adult Catholics who wish to be confirmed.
If you are interested in finding out more about the process of Christian initiation, or if you would like to participate in RCIA, please contact Keara Coughlin at kearac@oldstpats.org or 312.798.2328.
Alternatively, if you know anyone who may be considering Catholicism, please encourage him or her to contact Keara.
