Music Ministry
Old St. Patrick’s is known for its joyful music celebrations. The Music Ministry is creating many opportunities for involvement whether it be for a month, three months, or the whole year. Whatever your schedule is, we have a musical group for you or we can create one. The time requirement varies by opportunity. Contact Bill Fraher, BillF@oldstpats.org or 312.831.9353 for more information.
Deck the Hall Christmas Choir
We are in the process of developing our annual Deck the Hall Christmas Choir. If you are a singer and want to get into the Christmas spirit, sing some wonderful and exciting music, meet new friends, and sing with an orchestra, we invite you to join our concert choir. Every year we assemble a choir that rehearses for about 12 weeks. Again this year, we will be singing for our Deck the Hall Christmas Concert on Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4, 2004 at Old St. Patrick's Church. We are very excited that we will be taking the show on the road this year and performing at the Paramount Theater in Aurora, Illinois, on Saturday, December 18. This choir also leads the music for some of our Sunday Advent Masses as well as for our Christmas Eve midnight Mass, Christmas Day Masses and the Sunday's after Christmas as well. So whether or not you are in town for Christmas, please consider joining this 85-voice strong choir. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 16, from 7 - 9 p.m. in the church and continue every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter Auditions are in the church on Tuesday, September 14, from 6:30-9 p.m. Please contact Bill Fraher for an appointment at 312.831.9353 or at BillF@oldstpats.org.
Sundays at Old St. Pat's
Sunday worship at Old St. Pat's is blessed with a very talented and dedicated group of singers and musicians who lead us in songprayer. We are truly blessed by their ministry. The group numbers around 45 - 65 on any given Sunday and performs at all the Masses. As we would like to increase the size of this group, we are asking for your musical help. If you are a singer or an instrumentalist and would like to be involved in music ministry at the 8:15, 9:30, 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Masses, please contact Bill Fraher at 312.831.9353 or BillF@oldstpats.org.
If you would like to play and/or sing at the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass, please contact Laura Higgins at 312.798.2342 or LauraH@oldstpats.org.
Young Adult Choir
On the first Sunday of every month, the archdiocesan Young Adult Ministry and Old St. Pat's is proud to host young adults from around the area at the 11:15 a.m. Mass. We extend an invitation to all young adult singers, married or single, in their 20's or 30's to come early and be part of the choir at that Mass. We will gather every first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the rectory, just behind/west of the church, at 718 W. Adams for rehearsal and
sing at the 11:15 a.m. Mass. If you are interested in singing, or if you are an instrumentalist, please contact Bill Fraher at 312.831.9353 or BillF@oldstapts.org. or just come on the first Sunday and bring a friend.
Old St. Pat's Church Youth Music Team
If you are between the ages of 6 and 12, we invite you to come and sing and be part of the Old St. Pat's Youth Music Team! Come and use your God-given talent in song! The Old St. Pat's Youth Music Team will begin its fifth year of song beginning on Sunday, October 3, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in the Church Rectory. The purpose of this choir is to beautifully enhance Family Liturgies while fostering proper vocal health, increased musical learning, and acquiring a bountiful knowledge of liturgical song in each and every child. And, we will always have lots of fun! The commitment to this fantastic musical opportunity coincides with the meeting times of Partners - usually no more than twice a month, which is generally the first and third Sundays of the month. Rehearsals are generally held in the Church Rectory from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. The Youth Music Team will also provide music for the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve liturgy. The commitment is substantial yet well worth every effort. So if you'd like to make beautiful music and meet some new friends, please join us in the Church Rectory at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 3. We are looking forward to seeing you!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact Martha Ebent (Youth Music Team Director) at 773.286.4270 or ebentm@fxw.org.
