Description
For the past two years, Old St. Pat's has culminated the Easter Season with bold displays of radical hospitality. In 2008, we took the words of Acts literally: "when the day of Pentecost was fulfilled, it found them together in one room." And so we did. We gathered for one Mass at the UIC Forum and what a celebration is was! In 2009, Old St. Pat's wanted to express what being a mission church was all about in a significant way. More than 400 people spent the day cleaning up and repairing the Su Casa Shelter in the Back of the Yards neighborhood and then came together in a "sea of red (T-shirts)" for the 5 p.m. Mass at Old St. Pat's.
This year we want to break out of "one room" and meet, literally in the intersection of the Crossroads at Des Plaines and Adams Streets! For many years, Old St. Pat's has leveraged our mission as being At The Crossroads! Wouldn't it be fascinating if we could gather 3,000 people seated from north to south, and east to west to celebrate what being Church in the world is all about? Imagine the message of the Gospel being preached, not with words necessarily, but with the presence of 3,000 believers (indeed 3,000 preachers!) coming together in the middle of the Crossroads, and whose desire is to give birth
to a new spirit of Church throughout every corner of the world.
Now, more than ever, we see a Church that is struggling. Significant change is only going to happen if WE make it happen.
Please join us on Sunday, May 23 at 11 a.m. as Old St Pat's brings the message of the life-giving Spirit into the streets! Spread the word and invite your family, friends, and neighbors.
