Claim the Hurt: A Church Laments
Tuesday, March 23
6:30 p.m.
An Evening of Reflection to host, contemplate, and honor any hurt, disappointment, alienation, sadness, or estrangement people may be bearing in relationship to the Church. Please join us, and invite anyone for whom you think this may be a relevant or healing experience. To the extent it is true that hurt, disappointment, misunderstanding, loss, sadness, disaffection, and pain are part of any significant relationship that lasts over time, then we can say with some confidence many have experienced these emotions with respect to their relationship with the Church. Richard Rohr says, "simply and profoundly, if you don't transform your pain you transmit it. In order for pain to be transformed, it has to be acknowledged, recognized, heard, received, honored." On Tuesday, March 23, we will gather to acknowledge, recognize, hear, receive and honor peoples pain and disappointment in their relationship with the Church. Our deep hope and prayer is this evening will contribute to healing and transformation. Please join us and consider inviting anyone who may contribute to and benefit from this evening of reflection. "Even when everything around us may signal otherwise, we wait together -- as one community -- in joy and in confident hope our God will come, and in fact, is already here!"
