LIFT (Leading India’s Future Today) USA invites you to participate in fostering global youth leadership by supporting our inaugural Lift a Glass! wine tasting and auction, on Friday, Nov. 9 in the church hall, Old St. Patrick’s.
LIFT is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of leadership excellence within the young people of Tamil Nadu, India, regardless of background, caste, or religious tradition. LIFT strives to raise the aspirations and leadership skills of underprivileged children so they can transform society by combating poverty, unemployment, and poor health.
The Wine Auction will begin at 5:30 p.m.with hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting, and silent auction preview. At 6 p.m., the silent auction will begin, offering a variety of unique gifts, experiences, and travel packages, in addition to notable wines and spirits. Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to taste wines of both national and international varietals while learning from wine experts at each of the tasting stations.
Bring your friends and join many of Chicago’s civic and community leaders for a social evening with profound social benefit. The proceeds of our 2007 event will fund scholarships to LIFT’s unique network of primary and secondary schools that offer leadership training to motivated children, so they can become examples to their community and agents of essential change. We also plan to allocate a portion of our proceeds to The Vineyard Home for Mentally Challenged Adults in Purgitsville, West Virginia, cofounded by Father Daniel M. Cantwell, a Chicago priest who was very dear to many of us in the Old St. Patrick’s community.

We are also actively soliciting tax-deductible donations of wine and other silent auction prizes. If you would like to support Lift a Glass! in this manner, please contact Kate Boege at 312.337.7953. Even a single bottle of quality wine or spirits would be greatly appreciated and would help us achieve our substantial fundraising goals.
